In May 2015, COPE held a month long Peanut Butter Drive as part of the COPE Cares volunteer initiative.
COPE Cares is a volunteer initiative that gets staff involved in the community. Over the past year, COPE staff have volunteered by partnering with various community organizations such as the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, Tucson Clean and Beautiful, and the Ronald McDonald House of Southern Arizona
The Peanut Butter Drive was held to benefit the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. We asked staff to donate plastic jars of peanut butter that the Food Bank could utilize in their monthly food boxes which are distributed at no cost to low-income individuals and families.
The holiday months are a big donation period for the Food Bank; however, during summer months the demand for food boxes does not decrease but donations do. Peanut butter is the number one food item the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona seeks. This is the second year COPE has held a Peanut Butter Drive and been able to give back to the Food Bank.
At the end of the month, all the Peanut Butter was tallied and COPE made a donation of 302 jars yielding 486 pounds of the tasty treat. Thanks to all the employees who contributed to this year’s Peanut Butter Drive.
